How?

How does the earth rotate without falling? How does the sun rise everyday? How is cancer cured? These are the kinds of questions that science can not answer. There are theories to how these things occur, but my answer is God. I believe that until you are faced with the impossible it is hard to understand miracles. Before April 28 2008 I believed in God and I had witnessed about his power and awesomeness, but seeing him do something impossible right in front of your eyes is life changing. I would love to use this blog as an avenue to share the amazing power of God. I have been through something that has been hard ,but I came through it well. I realized at the start of my process and I very well know now that it was God and his love for me that my family is what it is today. Please share with me your stories and questions concerning life and the power of God.

Coping As a NICU Parent

Having a baby three months before your due date is extremely scary. Getting married and having our children were all part of the dream, but the fine print was something that most of us paid no attention to. My name is Latonya Raiford and I was a proud NICU parent. I took my role as a mother and advocate for my child very seriously, while at the same time allowing those that had the skill and knowledge to provide care for her the liberty to do so. I am hoping that I can place information on this site that can aide any family going through any level of the NICU.

The first thing you must do as a parent of the NICU is to take notice of how you as a person/patient are doing. Everyone coming through those doors as a parent to a child in that unit have either just given birth or they have watched the mother of the child go through labor. Both have just went through one of the heaviest moments of their lives. The unknown or lack of knowledge about the outcome can all be overwhelming. Please take it from someone who found out the hard way, make sure you(Mom & Dad) are OK. Before we can effectively be there for our children and each other we must first be there for ourselves. Stop and do you, it is Dr. orders!!
